Ever since 1999, Fermax has been committed to top line competitive sport as an imaging tool to transmit the values and awareness of the brand.  Through different sponsorship projects, always focussed on the sport of yacht racing, our clients have been able to enjoy first hand experience of the emotion and competition of high level sport.  The Fermax Sailing Team has become a brand under which several  sponsorship projects in the sailing world are developed.

Fermax Sailing Team GP42

A professional team among the Mediterranean’s main yacht racing teams.  Based in Valencia, the venue for the 33rd and 32nd editions of the America's Cup, the Fermax team is made up of 20 people including collaborating sailors and onshore maintenance.

Fermax competes in the National and International GP42 Circuit, a league of six regattas all round Spain that take place in such varied cities as Valencia, Palma, Melilla, Bayonne, Cascais (Portugal) and Lanzarote.  In this league, the projects are professional and the boats are crewed by elite sportsmen.  Pedro Campos, America’s Cup regatta racer and Round the World yachtsman, onboard the Telefónica.  Jan Santana on the Zurich or Laureano Wizner, head of the Spanish Challenge, also on board the Quebramar, are the main teams in  Spain.

Each team is free to choose a naval designer and shipbuilder from anywhere in the world.  The boats are prototypes and are not constructed in series.  The designs are cutting edge, for example the Fermax was designed by Marcelino Botín, designer of the Emirates Team New Zealand in the last edition of the America’s Cup.  Construction of the unit sailed by the Fermax team took place in Zagreb, Croatia.  This is a class where technology and design are combined with the teamwork of the 11 crew members. 

Fermax Sailing Team B 25

As a preparatory Circuit for the tough GP42 seasons, the main components of the team sail in this unique Monotype Circuit all round Spain.  The B25 is a basic boat and all the teams have a unit that is exactly the same as that of any other team, since the class is monotype.   All the attention is focussed on the crews themselves, who have to sail continuously so that the manoeuvres are done as fast as possible.

Sir Thomas Lipton Match Race

In addition to sponsoring racing teams, as of 2007 Fermax is one of the sponsors of one of the main trials in the Spanish Match Race Championship.  Held in Javea, this trial brings together the best Match Race specialists, such as Manu Weiller, Axel Rodger or José Ponce. 

In the 10 years that Fermax has been present in the world of sailing, the team’s collaborators and sponsors have been crucial in achieving the objectives, since teamwork, commitment and effort once again become the most important virtues in high performance sport.
